Jim ( Slim ) TraverJim (Slim) Traver is owner and co founder of SCUBA DOO. Jim started diving while serving his country in the Navy aboard the Destroyer, USS Holder. In the early 60's diving was just a fledging business with no real direction. Jim bought some gear from a buddy, and took advantage of all the seaports he traveled to while on board ship. After the Navy, Jim and his wife, Mary Jo, moved to Illinois to be close to family. In 1967 Jim was certified as a PADI Instructor and holds one of the earliest instructor cards, #2288. In their travels they discovered Arkansas, swam and dove in the clear lakes and immediately saw the potential for scuba. In 1972 their family of four moved to Arkansas and launched SCUBA DOO Dive Shop and the rest is history. Through the years Jim has built a reputation of honesty and great service to his customers. His mechanical and technical skills on all equipment he sells makes it easy for customers to get quick and reliable repairs. Jim has been schooled by DACOR, MARES, Sea Quest, Zeagle and a host of other manufacturers and usually has the parts necessary to make the repair.

Mary Jo and CJMary Jo Augustine is owner and co founder of SCUBA DOO. Jim threw Mary Jo in the water with full gear on in 1968 and said, "swim!" In 1972 she decided to learn the right way and became a PADI instructor, #3276. In the early years Jim and Mary Jo were team teachers with their two small kids in tow. With the construction of the new building built in 1995 that included a 75-foot indoor pool Mary Jo's role has expanded. Her expertise and training related to water skills has proved invaluable in growing and expanding the customer base. Mary Jo is certified with the American Red Cross and currently offers Lifeguard and CPR certification for North Central Arkansas. She is also a certified swim instructor. Even the older generation sees the inside of a dive shop when they come to SCUBA DOO's pool for the water aerobic classes held six times a week year round. One of the most popular programs offered by Mary Jo is her free snorkeling class for anyone who buys mask, fins, and snorkel from her shop.

Captain Patten TraverPatten Traver was born into a diving family and made his first saltwater dive at the tender age of six in Roatan, Honduras. He grew up listening to every Scuba lecture as he tagged along with mom and dad. Much of what he learned probably occurred through osmosis. His first dive log book shows places such as: Jamaica, Cayman Island, Nassau, Bahamas, Belize, and Mexico to name a few. And that was before he turned 16. When Patten was 18 he completed his PADI instructor course and became one of the youngest instructors. With the instructor card under his belt he branched out to more far away places during the off season at SCUBA DOO. Patten has been a dive master on land based and boat operations in Bonaire, Mexico, and Southeast Asia. He also found time to finish his Mechanical Engineering degree at Arizona State University. Recently Patten has diversified and obtained his 100 ton Coast Guard Captain license and is working toward his 200 ton. As Captain, Patten enjoyed several seasons off the coast of Thailand operating a live-aboard dive boat that brought in customers from around the world. If you have any question regarding dive travel, Patten is the man.

Jamee O. Traver
Jamee O. Traver is the youngest of this diving brood. Like her brother, JameeO started diving at an early age. She thought breathing with a regulator in her mouth was how it was suppose to be. Another PADI instructor at an early age, she also spread her wings across several continents. JameeO would eventually follow her brother to Asia but not before she spent a considerable time in Mexico working in the dive industry and learning the language. In Thailand JameeO worked for several companies as dive master and instructor. Her versatility proved to be a valuable asset as job criteria expanded to social director, cooks help, boat detail and other non related jobs that needed done. She joined Captain Patten on board a live-aboard that traveled in the uncharted dive waters off the coast of Burma. JameeO also found time to squeeze in a degree from Arkansas State University with a triple minor of Business, Math and Science.
